Repeat Rider - Consignment

Drop Off for Charity

We now offer the option for you to “drop off” your items if you do not wish to open a consignment account. Using the same guidelines as our consignment policies on which items we accept, these dropped off items will be given a special inventory code our system. Once sold a portion of the sale will go to equestrian charities – riding for the disabled, horse rescues, etc. Thank you to all who choose to support this charity option.

Consignment

The Repeat Rider is always taking in merchandise on consignment.
Here are some guidelines to help you decide on what to bring in.

The only item we DO NOT ACCEPT ARE RIDING HELMETS, no matter what the condition. Helmets are designed for single impact only.
Since we are not equipped to test the integrity of a helmet (done by x-ray), we cannot guarantee a used helmet’s safety.
If you feel your helmet may be damaged and the warranty, if any, is still valid, send it back to the manufacturer to have examined.
If damaged it may be replaced by the manufacturer.

Riding Boots | Tack | Blankets | Saddles | Miscellaneous | Policy

CLOTHING

We accept most riding clothes.
We ask that before bringing any clothing in, it be washed or dry cleaned.
Cleaning charges will apply if we need to send anything out to be dry-cleaned.

Clothes should be free of holes and in wearable condition.
If there is some pilling or slight staining on clothing (such as breeches), this is okay but will result in the item being listed “as is” and therefore having a lower selling price.

Clothing may consist of breeches, jods, chaps, blouses (with collars), show jackets, etc. You may also bring in sweatshirts, t-shirts, ball caps, outerwear, etc as long as it has a horse theme or is often found in the equestrian world (like oilskin jackets).
Any clothing we receive that we feel is not suitable for sale will be donated to charity.

RIDING BOOTS

When bringing in boots, please make sure they are riding boots.
If we receive boots that we deem unsafe for riding they will be labeled as such or donated to charity if we do not feel they are saleable.
All boots should be clean and polished – remembering not to polish the inside leg (part closest to the horse) of a field or dress boot.
Field and lace up paddock boots should have laces that are in good shape. If we have to replace the laces, a fee will be deducted from your account.
Rubber and vinyl boots should also be clean of any barn debris.
Cleaning charges may be deducted from your account if we have to clean badly soiled boots. top

Tack

We take all kinds of tack.
Tack should be cleaned and oiled if needed.
There should be no breaks in the leather.
All items should be in useable condition.
Bridles should have all parts intact and can be brought in with or without reins or bits.
Saddle pads and horse boots should be cleaned and free of as much horsehair as possible.
Polos and stable bandages should be rolled properly. top

Blankets

Before bringing in horse blankets or sheets they should be professionally cleaned and repaired to receive a good price for them.
If rips and tears are small and repairable, the blanket will be sold “as is” with a lower price. If the damage is large, the blanket will be donated to a charity (they can repair and keep) or thrown out.
Blankets brought in dirty may be subject to a cleaning charge that will be deducted from the account. top

Saddles

Due to space restrictions, saddles are taken at discretion.
Leathers, irons and girths may be sold separately from the saddle.
We will not accept any saddle with a broken tree.
Please clean the saddle and remove any nameplates you wish to keep. We will not remove the plate at the store – you must do this yourself. top

Miscellaneous

We will also accept toys, games, gift items and books as long as they have a horse theme. For example: books written by Dick Francis are okay because his stories are based around the horse environment.
All should be in good shape and toys should be intact. Puzzles and games should have all their pieces and parts. top

Our consignment policy

Anyone bringing in merchandise to put on consignment must read and sign an inventory contract. Persons under the age of 19 must have a parent/guardian read and sign the contract for them.

Credit on the account may only be used by the person named on the account – no exceptions.

Commissions are as follows:
Riding apparel, hats, books, gift items, toys etc – 60%
Riding boots including paddock, field and dress boots – 50%
Saddles – 30%
All other tack – 50%

We price the items and base the selling price on the condition of the item.
Consignment period is ONE YEAR, unless you are in regular contact with us and/or keep the account active.

The price of an item may be reduced, discounted or put on sale at any time during or after the one year consignment period at the discretion of The Repeat Rider. The consignment split will be based on the price that the item was SOLD – meaning after any reductions, discounts, sales or promotions.

Any items remaining in the store on an inactive account after ONE YEAR become the property of The Repeat Rider as well as any unclaimed monies on the inactive account. Please note that it is your responsibility to check on the status of your account. The Repeat Rider does not call you. Items on an inactive account after one year may be pulled from inventory and donated without notice. Most unsold items are donated to charity within the equestrian community.

No consignment item on an active account will remain in the store over two years unless agreed upon arrangements are made in advance with The Repeat Rider, which may include The Repeat Rider receiving a higher commission and/or drastically reducing the selling price. You may also choose to donate the item to charity. If you do not make any arrangements with The Repeat Rider and the item has been in the store for more than two years, the item will then become the property of The Repeat Rider.

By signing the inventory contract you agree to all terms set out.

If you have any questions about what we accept on consignment please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be more than happy to help you.
